About
Peterborough is a small, tranquil, low-key fishing and holiday village of about 200 people, situated at the Western end of the Great Ocean Road, on the mouth of the Curdies River estuary and nestled between the Bay of Islands Coastal Park and Port Campbell National Park. The township has not been commercialised and is therefore one of the last remaining undeveloped towns on the Great Ocean Road. It is surrounded by numerous beautiful and unspoilt beaches, has a 9-hole cliff top Golf Course and is only a short drive to the world famous Twelve Apostles and Loch Ard Gorge, as well as the equally spectacular London Bridge, The Arch, The Grotto, Bay of Martyrs and Bay of Islands.
Peterborough is the perfect destination for those seeking to escape the hustle and bustle of their busy lives, and who are keen to learn more about this famous coastline. For the more adventurous, there are fishing and diving tours available locally, as well as helicopter charters which operate from Peterborough Airport. For those wishing to stay a bit closer to home, we supply tennis racquets, super-sized beach towels, numerous board games and a picnic basket. The local shops have everything you need if you would prefer to simply bunker down and stay at home in front of one of the many movies offered in our free movie library or on Netflix.
Please visit our Activities as well as our Events and Attractions pages for an extensive summary of things to see and do while you are visiting the area.
